Brighton
and Hove Tories run the extra mile

Mike
Weatherley, Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate for Brighton Pavilion
(fifth from right) and Nicholas Boles, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Hove and
Portslade (fourth from right), led a team of Tory supporters in The Sport Relief Mile run in Preston
Park on Saturday.
Following
the run, Mike said:
“It
has been a fantastic afternoon and I congratulate everyone who has taken part.
The atmosphere amongst the runners was superb, and the whole event was
extremely well organized. On my own
time of 7 minutes 48 seconds, I am absolutely amazed. I have always tried to keep fit, as a former referee and keen
skier. Nicholas and I finished
about the same time, and I am pleased to have taken part for such a good
cause.”
Nicholas
said:
“It
has simply been a terrific fun day out for everyone.
The generosity of the people of Brighton and Hove, was never in doubt,
but yet again they have come out in their masses and surpassed all expectations. I gather that the whole Sport Relief mile run may even end up
in the Guinness Book of Records.
“Our t-shirts certainly caught people’s attention, and I think there was genuine surprise that Conservative’s were here. At the end of the day though, all we were doing was our bit and running an extra mile.”
