Mike
Weatherley Exposes VAT bureaucracy
Mike Weatherley, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brighton
Pavilion, met Mr Martyn Redman, Chairman of Eurocash, which is
the only company in the VAT recovery industry to offer fully global
recovery services along with centrally managed accounts.
Mike was accompanied by John Redwood MP, the Shadow Minister for
Deregulation, and was not at all surprised what he heard.
Mike commented: “I always knew the VAT system was complex and over
bureaucratic. What Martyn has demonstrated is just how far the situation has
gone. Having run businesses in the
past, including Cash Bases the cash drawer manufacturers in Newhaven, I can
appreciate the difficulty some companies get into with VAT.
It is very reassuring that someone like Eurocash is on hand to help.
In some cases it can be the difference between success and failure.”
Eurocash was formed in 1995 as a corporate
outsourcing business to multi-national clients. The company has been in Brighton since 1997. In late 2001,
Eurocash established its US headquarters in New York City.
Mike said:
“I am immensely proud that Eurocash has it’s UK office in Brighton
Pavilion. This constituency is not
the easiest of place to do business, due the ever increasing price of commercial
property and business rates. That’s
of course on top of the financial burden brought upon by central Government
increases in taxes.
“The system Eurocash operate is unique.
It allows management teams and clients to learn everything they need to
know about VAT activity – nationally, regionally and globally. Day-by-day
account management decisions are taken based on a full understanding of global
VAT positions. Eurocash clients
include companies of all sizes, across all business sectors and markets around
the world. Their portfolio includes, amongst others, global blue chip
corporations in telecoms, automotive, aviation, IT systems, and brewing.
For example, one IT client has ten subsidiary companies based at a shared
service centre. This client benefits from total local and cross-border recovery
services, together with ongoing VAT compliance training.
Mike concludes
“VAT is a minefield. I wish Martyn and all his staff at Eurocash every continued success. Both John Redwood and I found the meeting to be very informative. We will take on board what we have leant today, and I hope in a few short weeks the Conservative’s will be back in Government so this sorry mess can be sorted out once and for all.”
