Weatherley supports new improvements to Vale Park in Portslade Pictured: Mike Weatherley with Cllr Steve Harmer-Strange in Vale Park In recent years Vale Park has been allowed to decline and lack of maintenance previously had resulted in large amounts of bindweed and ivy covering just about everything that was originally planted in the park. But there is good news for the park’s users! Funds of £20,000 have been released from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) to be used for capital works in the park and in addition a further £27,000 has just been identified to provide further improvements. The Council will provide a new dedicated person to look after the on-going maintenance of the park. New Concervative Councillor Steve Harmer-Strange said: “We said we would listen to people and we are doing that right now by consulting with the local residents through the community development workers to identify what they want in their park. An open day is planned for early September for everybody to come and see the options and to vote for what they want.”
